Charlotte A. (Larrabee) Doherty

PORTLAND - Charlotte A. (Larrabee) Doherty, 83, of Portland died Monday, Jan. 28, 2008, at Mercy Hospital after an illness. She was the wife of Richard J. Doherty.
She was born in Lockemills, on Sept. 13, 1924, the daughter of the late Charles B. and Carolyn (Williams) Larrabee. She attended Lewiston High School and married her husband Richard on Oct. 15, 1961.
Charlotte worked in local shoe shops for many years, Songo Shoe, Herman Shoe and Eastland Shoe. Then as a sales associate for 11 years at Sears before retiring in 1999.

She was a member of the Park Avenue Church of God, where she volunteered her time helping with spaghetti suppers. She also loved cats and very much enjoyed playing Beano.
Besides her husband of 46 years, she is survived by two daughters, Sharon L. Simpson with whom she lived, and Pam Mann and her husband Donald of Silex, Mo., and a son, Richard Doherty and his wife Enard of Barrington, N.H. She also leaves eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Shiela Hunt; two brothers, Clifford and Ernest Larrabee and one sister, Ellen Soule.
Those wishing to send a tribute in memory of Charlotte may do so at Relatives & friends are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday, Jan. 31, from 1-2 p.m. at Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St., Portland with a memorial service to follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Frank Siciliano of the Park Ave. Church of God. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
