Joseph M. Giordano Sr.
PORTLAND - Joseph M. Giordano Sr., 81 of Portland died Sunday, December 27, 2009 at Maine Medical Center. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on May 8, 1928, the youngest of six children to Francis Paul and Maria (Marino) Giordano. He has made Maine his home since his early teenage years. Joseph was educated at Portland High School before enlisting in the United States Navy during WWII. He was a self employed small businessman, owning several well-known establishments in the Old Port area. Joseph was a longtime member of the VFW and the Portland Eagle Clubs. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and loved music and dancing.

He is survived by his wife of over 57 years Clara M. (Caiazzo) Giordano, his two sons Joseph M. Giordano Jr. and his wife Cheryl and Michael Anthony Giordano Sr., his daughter Rose Ann Giordano-Sargent, three granddaughters Nicole Rose Giordano, Angela Rose Giordano and Taylor Rose Sargent, three grandsons Joseph M. Giordano III, Michael Anthony Giordano Jr. and Andrew Joseph Giordano, two great grandsons Angelo Rocco Giordano and Noah Rileigh Giordano all of Portland and a brother Phillip "Sammy" Giordano Riverside, CA. He also leaves several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 from 5 - 8 p.m. at Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford Street, Portland.
Prayers will be recited on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, 72 Federal Street, Portland Rev. Fred Irving celebrating
Burial with military honors will follow in Calvary Cemetery, South Portland, ME.
