PORTLAND - Bernice (Bunny) Marie Haley, 80, passed away Thursday, Dec. 15, 2009, at the Maine Medical Center from complications relating to diabetes. She was born in Ft. Kent, the daughter of Clarence and Anita Michaud Landry. She later moved to Hallowell where she graduated from Halldale High School. She then graduated from the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing where she gained her R.N. and worked there following graduation. She later worked at various times at the Maine Medical Center and Brighton Hospital. She also did private duty nursing. Her last employment prior to retirement was at Devonshire Manor which later became Woodfords Park where she was the weekend supervisor.
In November, Mrs. Haley celebrated her 80th birthday.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Richard J. Haley of Portland; her nine children, Richard J. Haley Jr. of Windham, Alan E. Haley of Windham, Brian D. Haley of Niskayuna, N.Y., Jennifer J. Laflin of Portland, Eileen M. Webber of Portland, Patricia A. Stout and her husband Robert of Candia, N.H., Peter T. Haley of Portland, Eric A. Haley of Elgin, S.C., and Stephen F. Haley and his wife Kathryn of Kent, Wash.; in addition to 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friend are invited to call at the Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St., Portland, on Friday from 4-7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m. from St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 1342 Congress St., Portland. Burial will be at a later date in Calvary Cemetery.
