Madelyn K. Newcomb
SCARBOROUGH - Madelyn K. Newcomb, born April 8, 1913 in Baileyville, ME a daughter of Florence R. Budge and Francis H. Budge. She married Charles J. Newcomb on June 28, 1941. Madelyn worked for Maine Uniform Company, retiring in 1975. She loved spending summers at Pequawket Lake, enjoyed cooking, crafts, making preemie hats for newborns for Mercy Hospital "Hats with Love" for cancer patients at Maine Medical Center. She also enjoyed many senior day trips. She is a life member of Iona, Deering Chapter No. 59, Order of Eastern Star, member of Amerant, Life member of Standish Senior Citizens.
She also was a member of Arok Temple No. 94, Lady of the Nile, Pomona Grange, Saccarappa Grange No. 481 and Westbrook Senior Citizens.
She was predeceased by her mother Florence and her father Francis Budge, her beloved husband Charles J. Newcomb, son Melvin F. Newcomb, sisters; Gertrude Gumaskas, Dorine Parker, brothers; George Budge, Francis Budge and Stewart Budge, grandson Stephen Newcomb, great granddaughter Kelley Newcomb, great grandson Ryan D. White and nephew Dwight McDevitt.
Madelyn is survived by her daughter Barbara J. White, husband E. Donald, sisters; Evelyn B. Farley of Venice FL and Bernice Dietrich, daughter-in-law Lori Newcomb, grandchildren: Vickie Higgins, Gail Mahan and husband David, Jay Newcomb, Patricia Fasulo and husband Mike, Mark White and Ellen Shaw along with several great and great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation on Friday, December 18 from 2-3 p.m. , and a funeral service to follow at 3 p.m. at Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St., Portland, ME
