Robert C. Craig


PORTLAND - Robert C. Craig, 61 passed away suddenly on Friday January 15, 2010 at Maine Medical Center. Born August 10, 1948 in Portland, he was the son of the late Charles N. and Helen Jamieson Craig. He graduated from Deering High School and attended North Eastern Business School. Until recently he was employed as a Service Dispatcher at Hyster New England for 13 years and most recently as an associate at BJ's Wholesale Club were he has worked for 17 years. In his younger years he liked hunting, fishing, camping, kayaking, canoeing and riding his motorcycle.

He will always be remembered for his integrity and excellent work ethic. One of the proudest moments of his life was the arrival of his twin grandsons.  

 He is survived by his daughter, Deana Fernandez and her husband Alfonso of Gray, Rose Whitman, his finance' partner and best friend of Portland. Two sisters, Eleanor Meekins and her husband John of Ohio, and Jacqueline Sullivan and husband Joseph of Massachusetts. His beloved brother Bruce Craig of California, his two grandsons, Andrew and Robert Fernandez, nieces, nephews and many friends. He is also survived by Rose's family who loved him dearly and of course we can't forget Izzy, his dog, another love of his life. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his son Keith Craig.

 Visitation will be Tuesday, January 19th, 2010 from 5:00-8:00 pm at Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St. Portland. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, 11:00 am at the funeral home with the Rev. Philip Shearman officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Portland.
