Robert T. Lapp


SOUTH PORTLAND - Robert T. Lapp, 82, of South Portland died Saturday, January 16, 2010 at the South Portland Nursing Home.  He was the wife of Dorothy M. (Tower) Lapp. Robert was born in Chicago, IL on March 17, 1927 a son of the late William T. & Lillian (Bagley) Lapp. He grew up in Chicago attending local area schools before proudly severing in the US Navy during WWII.  After being honorably discharged he married Dorothy on August 16, 1946 and moved to Maine. Robert was a self employed upholsterer. He and his wife are longtime members of the First Lutheran Church in Portland.  Robert also was a member of the Elks Lodge # 188 in Portland as well as the VFW Post in South Portland. Robert and Dorothy also spent fifteen years bowling in the Big 20 Sunday Night Couples League.

Besides his wife he is survived by his son Robert W. Lapp and his wife Barbara of White Plains, NY and his daughter Deborah J. Jeselskis of Buxton, ME.  He also leaves six grandchildren Robert Jr., Tayna, Brogan, Mallory, Travis and Jessie and two great grandchildren Zachary and Andrew as well as several nieces and nephews.  He was also the grandfather of the late Jeremy Hamilton who died in 1984.

 Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church, 132 Auburn Street, Portland with Pastor David Alvord officiating.

 Interment with military honors will be held in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, South Portland at a later date.
