Richard C. McKenzie
PORTLAND - Richard C. McKenzie, 71, of Portland, passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2010, after a long illness. He was the husband of the late Lucille (Gray) McKenzie. Richard was born in Portland on January 18, 1938 a son of the late Ruth (Davis) McKenzie. He attended Portland schools. He met and married his wife Lucille in November 1957. They settled in Portland where they raised their four daughters. Richard was a member of the National Guard, where he served as a switchboard operator and rifle marksman until his honorable discharge in 1958. Richard worked for Days Jewelry Store for several years until his retirement. He enjoyed spending time with family and especially enjoyed all different types of music.
He is survived by his four daughters Linda Kaserman and her husband Fred of Thomaston, ME, Kathy Mikkola of New York, Karen Jordan of Windham and Susan VanDuzer and her husband Tom of Westbrook. He also leaves nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was also the grandfather of the late Vanessa Jordan.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday, January 21, 2010, from 9:15 - 10:15 a.m. at Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford Street Portland.
Prayers will follow at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 672 Stevens Ave., Portland.
Interment will follow at Forest City Cemetery, South Portland, ME.
