PORTLAND - Loretta Dobson, 74, died Jan. 26, 2010, in her home with her beloved children and grandchildren by her side. Loretta was born May 13, 1935, in Portland, daughter of the late Clarence and Eileen Iezzi Daicy. She was predeceased by husband Stanley in 1997. Family was always the main focus of Loretta's life, growing up spending countless hours at Cow Island camping and boating with so many memories and stories. Besides these family outings, there were the 'gatherings' at their home. On any warm summer day or evening you could find the neighborhood packed into 'The Pool Yard' with their families and friends, all enjoying each other's company together.
Loretta and Stan spent several years wintering in Bradenton, Fla., before health issues arose. Loretta worked for many years at Jack Elementary in the cafeteria, where she enjoyed her job and the interaction with the children. In later years, Loretta and her husband Stan opened up Big D's Hot Dog Cart at the East End boat launch in Portland. Loretta and Stan ran Big D's for several years before Stan passed. The business was carried on by Loretta until it became too much for her to handle. Many friendships and countless memories were formed at Big D's that will live on with the family forever.
Loretta often expressed her love of having grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she adored. Loretta was a member of the Cathedral Church. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
Loretta is survived by her daughters, Loreen and son-in-law Steve, Barbara Drouin and son-in-law Mike, sons, Shane and daughter- in-law Lisa, Stan and daughter- in-law Kim, and Steve and daughter-in-law Patty.
We love you Mom, you'll be forever in our hearts. Hugs & Kisses.
