F. Marguerite (Conti) Papi

BELCHERTOWN, MA - F. Marguerite (Conti) Papi, 82,  formerly of Portland, ME died Monday, March 8, 2010 at her daughter's home in Belchertown, MA.  She was the beloved wife of the late Vincent "Jim" Papi who died in 1997. She was born to the late Nicolantonio and Assunta (DiSanto) Conti in Portland on May 10, 1927. She attended local area schools and graduated from Portland High School in 1945. Marguerite worked for Western Union as a Relief Manager traveling coastal Maine and Hannaford's as a cashier for thirty years before retiring at age 78. She taught CCD for 20 years at Saint Peter's church. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, knitting and was especially devoted to her grandchildren.

She is survived by her two daughters; Lisa Bishop, her husband Lloyd of Hollis, NH and Ann Marie P. Stratton, her husband Alan of Belchertown, MA.   Her four grandchildren; Monica and Christopher Bishop of Hollis, NH and Maria and Nicholas Stratton of Belchertown MA.  She was predeceased by her sisters; Lena DiMastrantonio and Bettina Morgridge. She is survived by her sisters; Irene Penna, Pauline Alcorn and Mary Smith. 

 Prayers will be recited on Thursday, March 11, 2010 at 11:15 a.m. at Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford Street, Portland followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 p.m. at St Peter's Roman Catholic Church, 72 Federal Street, Portland, ME.

 Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, South Portland.
