Dorothy S. Clark

SCARBOROUGH - Dorothy S. Clark, 91, died March 24, 2010 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House. Born September 13, 1918 in Orleans, MA. she was the daughter of the late Gilbert A. and Bessie E. Horton Sherman. She was a 1936 graduate of Orleans High School and worked as a nurse for several years at the Peabody Home for Crippled Children and the Mt. Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, MA. Dorothy was a member of the State Street Congregational Church where she was a member of the Afternoon Guild.  She served on the Board of the Victoria Mansion Society and was a member of the Women's Literary Union.  She loved summers at Ocean Park, traveling, reading, playing bridge and spending time with her family, especially her grandsons.

While always keeping up on politics, she also found time to support her favorite team, the Boston Celtics.

 She was predeceased by her husband Sumner S. Clark whom she married in 1942.

Dorothy is survived by two daughters; Deborah C. Gray and her husband Bruce of Boxborough, MA and Suellen Clark and her husband Michael Lailer of South Portland, four grandsons; Brian S. Gray, Clark Lailer, Jordan Lailer and Zachary Lailer, and her beloved cat Morris.

 Memorial funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday March 27, 2010 at the State Street  Congregational Church, 159 State St Portland with the Rev. Jeanette A. Good officiating.

 Private interment services will be in Forest City Cemetery South Portland.
